CONNOR Coles has become Buxton’s second signing for the 2018 season which will begin at Hi-Edge raceway in the spring.

Coles, 23, started last season with the Eastbourne Eagles before linking up with the Isle of Wight in the Travel Plus National League last season and also had a stint doubling-up with the Newcastle Diamonds in the SGB Championship.

Hitmen team manager Josh Moss said “I’m really pleased to have Connor on board, I feel we have a really good rider on a bargain average and he is more than capable of scoring double figures home and away and I feel he will thrive he at Buxton next season. I’d like to thank Mildenhall and Kevin Jolly for allowing us to bring Connor here to Hi-Edge raceway for the 2018 campaign.”

Coles started his career racing for the Rye House Raiders in 2012 and Rye veteran promoter Len Silver took Connor to Kent in 2013. Connor then linked up with Suffolk club Mildenhall in 2014 where he enjoyed success as he gained a National Trophy victory medal. Coles stayed there for a couple of more seasons before averages forced him out of West Row.

Speaking on his signing for the Hitmen Coles said “I’m happy to be linking up with Buxton for the 2018 season and I’m looking to help them have a better season than they had last season. Personally, I’m looking to step up myself and to challenge for the No.1 race jacket and will be looking to up my average and push myself in order to do that and hopefully then the team and I can have a great season on track.”

Coles links up with the Hitmen on a 6.75 average and will link up with Buxton’s other new signing Lewis Whitmore.
